Helpful Tips
- Start with outcomes. Be specific with what you want to achieve and design your project working backwards. Proposals should be for specific project/program—nothing vague.
- As you develop objectives, keep assessment methods in mind. Think about how you are going to measure what you will accomplish.
- Quote from notable sources. Do not cite anything over 10 years. Numbers speak to funders!
- Discuss potential problem areas and possible solutions
- Address all requirements in the RFP, and do not include anything not allowed.
- Be honest both in the proposal and with yourself concerning what you can actually accomplish. Remember, you have to follow through with whatever plans you make!
- If the grant guidelines/RFP is unclear, ask program officer for clarification!
